Growing Roots and Looking Ahead to 2025 Blooms at NewMont Fresh-Cut Flower Farm

As summer comes to an end here at NewMont Fresh-Cut Flower Farm, nestled in the heart of Colorado’s Front Range, we’ve been reflecting on a season of growth, both in our gardens and within ourselves. Our peonies and garden roses have thrived under the Colorado sun, their deep roots and long stems a testament to the care we’ve put into nurturing them. This summer, we’ve truly seen our farm come alive, and it’s been incredible to see our fresh-cut flowers transform into beautiful creations for florists, wedding planners, and those who love working directly with local farmers.

As we move into fall, we’re excited to share what’s in store for 2025. At NewMont Farm, we’ve built our offerings around carefully chosen, high-quality flowers that reflect the beauty and spirit of each month and season. From the elegance of garden roses to the lush beauty of peonies, we’re proud to provide wholesale flowers that bring something special to every occasion—whether it's a wedding, corporate event, birthday celebration, or a celebration of life.

For 2025, we’re introducing new varieties like dahlias and ranunculus, bringing more vibrant and creative possibilities to the florists and event planners we work with. These blooms, along with our newly planted fillers like winterberries, salix, babtista, forsythia, amaranth, salvia, and dusty miller, are perfect for crafting truly unique floral designs.

At NewMont, Patrick and I are always thinking about what feels right for us and for the community we serve. Whether you’re planning a wedding in Boulder or a corporate event in Denver, or you’re a florist in Fort Collins looking to source flowers that are both elegant and locally grown, we want to work with you. Autumn is one of our favorite times of the year. As the light changes and the air cools, Patrick and I are drawn home to the warmth of gathering with friends and family. This season, we’re inspired to plant a special collection featuring sunflowers, flint corn, and wheat—perfect for creating natural, rustic centerpieces and wreaths that capture the earthy beauty of the harvest.

This year has been all about laying down strong roots, both literally and figuratively. We’ve worked hard to build a farm that not only grows beautiful flowers but also fosters real connections with the people we serve. We’ve enjoyed visits to the farm from wedding planners, friends, family, and our yoga community. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to keep learning, growing, and sharing our blooms with those who appreciate working directly with a local farm that’s rooted in creativity with a deep love for farming.

Beginning at NewMont Fresh-Cut Flower Farms

Hello and welcome to the very first post of "Brian's Blog" on the NewMont Fresh-cut flower farms website! I'm Brian, a flower grower, not a florist, and I'm thrilled to share our journey into the world of flower farming with you.

Recently, my husband Patrick and I took a leap of faith and bought a horse property in Fort Lupton, Colorado, that, as fate would have it, also happened to be a fresh-cut flower farm. This transition feels almost predestined, as I've always had a deep love for gardening. I often envisioned myself spending my retirement working part-time at a nursery, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of plants. Now, here we are, living that dream, albeit with a steeper learning curve than anticipated.

The initial days have been a whirlwind of activity, from relentless weeding to ensuring the flowers are well-watered. It's been a lot of work, more than we ever imagined. But last week, something magical happened—our first flower bloomed. It felt like a sign, an auspicious beginning to our journey. Within three days, hundreds more flowers burst open, transforming our farm into a vibrant, colorful paradise.

We are currently growing and selling a variety of peonies and roses. With the sudden abundance of flowers, we found ourselves scrambling to harvest them. There was so much to learn—how to store the flowers properly, whether to wrap them or place them in water buckets, and even how to make plant food from pantry ingredients. The most daunting task of all has been setting up a wholesale flower sales pipeline. How do we find buyers? It's a question we've been grappling with daily. We are looking to partner with florists along the Colorado Front Range including Boulder, Longmont, Fort Collins, and Denver.

In the spirit of embracing this new adventure, we've decided to host a flower flash sale and invite our community over for a garden party on Saturday. It’s our way of sharing the beauty we've cultivated and connecting with our neighbors. We figure this first year will be filled with learnings connections.

Despite the challenges and the occasional feeling of being overwhelmed, it all feels right for us. This farm is not just a business; it's a place where we find meaning and joy in nurturing life. We look forward to sharing more of our experiences, insights, and perhaps a few bloopers along the way.
